The Simunye Project

Princess Alice Adoption Home

The Princess Alice Adoption Home is located in Westcliff, Johannesburg. It cares for 30 babies at a time, who are either abandoned or awaiting adoption. Additionally, counseling and limited accommodation is provided for single, pregnant women. The adoption home is short-staffed and requires funding and donations for supplies.

As all the nurses and carers are females, the babies often have had no interaction with adult males until we arrive at the Adoption Home.

The Simunye Project’s main contribution to the Princess Alice Adoption Home is to provide some extra pairs of hands, and donations of both supplies and money. Each trip spends time interacting with the children and showing them some much needed tender loving care. The Simunye volunteers help out with feeding and changing the babies, which is a long process with only a few staff members.
